Now that the sprinkler water supply is shut OFF to the system, go to your controller and manually run a zone for a few seconds. This may help release the water from the above-ground pipes and your backflow device.
Step 3: if you're feeling bold and have a flat-blade screwdriver...
These are small ball valves and can trap water.
Be aware that some water may spray out,
so keep your face clear of the tops.
Turning these just 1/4 turn, as pictured, will allow much of the water to drain from the device.
